Decisions, Decisions.

July 15th, 2009 · 12 Comments · I Shoot Film, The Camera Project

BEING ON HOLIDAY CAN BE SUCH A DRAG SOMETIMES. So much so, that the hardest thing I have to do is decide which camera/s to take out with me for the day. This is how my morning went:

  • Dress, pack bag.
  • Put Holga and Lomo Fisheye in bag.
  • Take Holga and Fisheye out of bag.
  • Put SX70 with no film in bag (in the hopes of buying 600 film- yes I’m all out!)
  • Contemplate shops of destination and realise there will be no 600 available, take SX70 out of bag.
  • Put Yashica FX3 in bag, instantly take it out.
  • Get very frustrated!!!!
  • In a rage, rip black and white film from Nikon’s loins and toss it aside with intentions of buying Portra along the way.
  • Instantly feel regret and sorrow for destroying Black and White film.
  • Go on day’s journey to take no photos and end the day with no Portra but a box of 600 film. UGH!

Of course, it wasn’t all bad, I ended up picking up a roll of film from the Yashica FX3 which has been on my Camera Project hit list. A few homey shots, more to come tomorrow.

I love that one of the bed. It makes me miss home so much. Your photos make me suuuuuuuuuuuper excited to get home to my collection of film cameras!!! I am KICKING myself for not bringing a film camera here!!! [WHAT was I thinking?!]

Heh, I’ve just written a blog post (not published yet) about having too many cameras :)

    I feel your pain, obviously.

Which camera did you use for the set of photos above? Lovely!! I like the tone or mood of the photos above. Can you teach me how to achieve this effect? :) Thanks!

I have too many cameras! I have 2 dianas, several lomos, a canon 40D, and over 10 polaroids, and surely more. I love them as objects, however my lecturer has said that there is a belief that the more cameras you have then the less photos you take! Sadly, I am starting to agree…

In spite of it being hard to choose which camera, I can imagine whatever you decided upon was wonderful. These home photographs are so lovely and cozy.

Oooh they’re beautiful. I particularly love the bed shot. Such beautiful colours.

Being on holidays is such hard work, eh? :P

    Matt, it’s a trial, isn’t it? hehe
Jen, these were taken with the Yashica FX3. There is no way of getting any real effect…I just look for the light and shoot.
Sometimes using a film camera is too easy hehe
Sundari, I think your lecturer is probably right. That’s the reason I’ve been trying to use as many of my cameras this year as possible. I’m trying to make use of those sitting on the shelf gathering dust.
    Alexandria, thanks!
    fat mum slim, thank you.
    Yes, it’s a bit of a chore. ;)
