PC: What is your favourite thing about photography? What made you decide to have photography in your life?

Lorena: I was always a very observant girl. I liked to enjoy the little things of life that not anybody else saw. When I was thirteen years old, I had a small box that I used to try to keep the smell of wet soil from a rainy day. I always wanted to keep in a some way those moments, and I saw that with photography I could do that and much more. With the camera, I can freeze a moment, capture it, remember and relive whenever I wanted.

For me it’s magical to reflect exactly what you’re living in a moment of your life, it is beautiful. Years later, and after studying a lot of different things, I chose to study photography. And ever since that moment, I have left to see the life through a 35mm visor.

PC: When you shoot, what are your thoughts? What are you thinking while you are making the decisions you are.
Lorena: I’m a very intuitive person who has no preconceived ideas about what to photograph and how. Just let me go. I act by feelings, impulses. I believe that guided by such abstract feelings makes the outcome unpredictable, particularly something that I love.

PC: You are kidnapped by pirates but they are kind pirates who tell you that you can bring one camera to document your abduction. Which one do you grab?

Lorena: Without any doubt, the camera that has accompanied me all these years: my old Minolta X-370S. There are other cameras that have been in my hands but that one, without any doubt, the Minolta it is my preferred one. In the moment you look through the visor, you only see beauty. All the things you can see acquire sense and shape.

PC: Which one?

Dresses/skirts or pants: In every season I love to dress comfy. The trousers are a piece of clothing that never go out of fashion but If I have to chose, I take the dress. I feel very comfortable with it and I love those that are cotton made.

Cupcakes or muffins: If I think in photography and looking for beauty, I love the cupcakes more. They are beautiful to the eye. When it’s special, I love muffins. I love traditional cooking and I love to cook muffins.

Shopping or hiking: I am not a woman crazy about shopping. I hate to go clothes shopping. It is not my favourite hobby, but I love to enjoy an entire afternoon shopping for books and CDs. It’s my passion.Without any doubt, I love the nature and I prefer to hike than go shopping.

Edward Cullen or Mr Darcy: Absolutely Mr Darcy. I fell in love with the character and his personality.
Serious, responsible and faithful to his beliefs but capable of bowing out of love.

PC: Why do you love film?

Lorena: There are many reasons why I love film. The most important are because its realism when you want to create an atmosphere and its wonderful light. With my digital camera I’ve never been able to capture the magic and realism of a moment at 100%. When you look a film image, you feel the strange feeling that time has been frozen and you have a bit of that reality in your hands for ever. The objects, the atmosphere, the colours, all items of a image acquires a principal role. They shine with its own light.

Another aspect why I love film, is because the light, that first glimmer of light in the morning into the bedroom, stroking the sheets, offers a warm and friendly atmosphere that I am only able to capture with film. There is magic on this light and realism on its atmosphere, that are the reasons why I’ll continue taking photos with film.

PC: Thank you so much Lorena for answering the PC Feature Photographer questions. You are a joy in more ways than one and such a gorgeous soul as well.
